By restating the long-held view of the Roman Catholic Church on the position of other Christian churches, this document breaks no new ground. But neither does it fully reflect the deeper understanding that has been achieved through ecumenical dialogue and co-operation during the past thirty years. The Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission (ARCIC) met from 26 August to 3 September at the Prieuré St Benoît et Ste Scholastique, Montmartre, Paris. The Most Reverend Alexander J. Brunett, Archbishop of Seattle, USA, joined the Commission as the Roman Catholic Co-chairman. The Anglican Co-chairman is the Most Reverend Frank T. Griswold

He fought bravely against cancer for the larger period of his retirement.

But he did so with such cheerfulness while maintaining a full diary that few were aware of the battle being waged. He was as courageous in later life as he was in his war service.
