Bishop elected for Argyll and The Isles

Canon Martin Shaw was elected as the new Bishop of Argyll and The Isles in the Scottish Episcopal Church at a meeting of the Electoral Synod on March 24 in Oban. He will succeed the Rt Revd Douglas Cameron who retired at the end of October last year.

The national director for Church Army USA is on a fact-finding tour of projects run by Church Army in the UK. Steve Brightwell said in a press release that so far he had been "bowled over" and "inspired and encouraged" by the range and quality of work throughout the UK and Ireland.

The Soul of Europe, an Anglican organisation aimed at assisting the integration of Islam into Europe, met with the World Islamic Call Society last week at St George's House Windsor on ways to develop joint-peace making activities.

To mark the publication a press release issued today stated that the Rt Revd Harold Miller, Bishop of Down and Dromore and chairman of the church's Liturgical Advisory Committee had said, "This is a very fine production by Columba Press and in my view the most beautiful Prayer Book we have ever seen in the Church of Ireland.
