A project funded by the United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel (USPG) in Myanmar (Burma) is supplying clean water to nearly 120 families in two remote villages. The project is soon to be extended to other nearby villages to continue the work of combating disease spread by contaminated water.
Development work has become a priority for USPG in the Diocese of Toungoo in Myanmar. "The provision of sanitation and clean water can significantly improve the quality of people's lives, thereby fulfilling Jesus' words that he came to give us life in all its fullness," said the Rt Revd John Wilme, the Bishop of Toungoo.
Bishop Wilme has a long-standing commitment to improving the health of all the people in his diocese, whatever their religion, Christian, Buddhist, or Animist. In addition to the equipment needed for the project, villagers will also be trained in basic maintenance and in contamination prevention.
