Presiding Bishop of the Anglican Church in New Zealand, John Paterson, is feeling positive about being an Anglican and about the future of the church. "We're not scared of ideas," he says, "and we're good at holding together a diverse group of people. It's a real strength and we don't celebrate it enough."

The Anglican Archbishop of Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia, the Most Revd Brian Davis, announced his retirement this week. He will retire as Bishop of Wellington on 1 July 1997, and his resignation as Primate of the Anglican Church on Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia takes effect from the same date.
