Continuing Indaba director returns to parish ministry

The Revd Canon Dr Phil Groves, who for the past 10 years has led the Anglican Communion’s Continuing Indaba conflict transformation and reconciliation ministry, is to leave his post at the end of July to return to parish ministry. Dr Groves will become Associate Rector in the Wychert Vale Benefice in the Church of England’s Diocese of Oxford.

Vacancy: Archbishop of Canterbury's Adviser for Anglican Communion Affairs

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, is seeking an adviser for Anglican Communion affairs, to work from Lambeth Palace, his London home and office. The successful applicant, who will be a priest or bishop in the Anglican Communion, will “serve and support the Archbishop in all matters relating to his Anglican Communion responsibilities.”

Task group appointed to maintain conversation amidst deep differences

A task group has been appointed to “maintain conversation” among the Primates of the Anglican Communion as requested by the Primates during their meeting in January. The Primates asked the Archbishop of Canterbury to establish the group as part of their commitment to “walk together” despite “deep differences”.

The provinces of the Anglican Communion have been invited to set aside the Sunday closest to the feast of Saint Augustine of Canterbury (26 May) as Anglican Communion Sunday, with a special focus of prayer for the Communion.

Anglican Consultative Council pass 45 resolutions by assent

The Anglican Consultative Council meeting in the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka, Zambia, last week has approved 45 resolutions on issues relating from intentional discipleship to the continuing detention of Pakistani Christian Asia Bibi; and from gender-based violence to the environment.

New leaders elected for worldwide Anglican Communion

A lay canon of England’s Liverpool Cathedral has been elected unopposed to serve as vice-chair of the Anglican Consultative Council. She joins the Archbishop of Hong Kong, the Most Revd Dr Paul Kwong, who was elected last week as chair of the body; and five new members of the Standing Committee.

Members of the Anglican Consultative Council, gathered in Lusaka for their ACC-16 meeting, experienced the diversity and vibrancy of African praise and worship when they were invited to worship at local parishes around Lusaka on Sunday as a way of actively “engaging with our local community for the sake of the wider community.”

Primate of Hong Kong elected as new chair of Anglican Consultative Council

The Archbishop of Hong Kong, the Most Revd Dr Paul Kwong, has been elected as the new chair of the Anglican Consultative Council – the legally constituted body that brings together Anglican churches from around the world. Dr Kwong will take on his new role at the end of the current meeting of ACC-16 which is being held in Lusaka, Zambia, until Tuesday.

Two candidates for chair of Anglican Consultative Council

Members of the Anglican Consultative Council, meeting in Lusaka, Zambia, will elect a new chair tomorrow and will have the choice of two candidates with significant knowledge of global Anglicanism: Professor Joanildo Burity from Brazil and Archbishop Paul Kwong from Hong Kong.
