During the 75-week celebration, the organization raised $7.94 million USD.

The Church of England has unveiled the logo that it will use for its celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II’s 90 birthday, after running a design competition through church schools. Ten-year-old Lucas Salinger from Potten End C of E Primary School drew the winning design, which was selected from more than 1,000 entries.

Her Majesty The Queen has approved prayers written for the celebration of her 90th Birthday later this year. Two prayers (or Collects) have been published in traditional and modern forms for use in services marking the national celebrations in April and June; and two graces have been published for use as thanksgivings at the start of other celebrations.

A service of Compline was held at Waltham Abbey Church to commemorate the 950th anniversary of the coronation of King Harold Godwinson. Harold didn’t remain King long – he lost his life a few months after his coronation at the Battle of Hastings during the Norman invasion of England. He is believed to be buried in the churchyard at Waltham Abbey.

The Anglican mission agency Mothers’ Union is celebrating its 140th anniversary in 2016. Throughout the year it will hold a number of events to mark 14 decades of “faithful outreach to families of all faiths and none.”
