WCC / UN conference: joint statement on refugee crisis

Today the Primates agreed how they would walk together in the grace and love of Christ. This agreement acknowledges the significant distance that remains but confirms their unanimous commitment to walk together. Seafarers' mission "horrified" at anti-piracy convictions

The international Anglican mission agency which supports seafarers through missions in 260 ports around the world, has spoken out against the conviction of 35 crewmen of the anti-piracy ship MV Seaman Guard Ohio by a court in India for carrying illegal arms. The Mission to Seafarers say that the crew were entitled to do so under international law.

The general secretary of the World Council of Churches, the Revd Dr Olav Fykse Tveit, has sent a message to the Anglican Primates meeting this week in Canterbury, offering them his “warm greetings” and assuring them of his “heartfelt prayers”.
