On behalf of the Anglican Primates of the British Isles, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, has confirmed the appointment of Bishop Martin Wharton of Newcastle, England, as the new Anglican Co-Chairman of the Porvoo Contact Group, succeeding Archbishop John Neill of Dublin, Ireland.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, will be paying a pastoral visit to the diocese of Jerusalem in the Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East next week (25-30 January). The visit is being made at the invitation of the Anglican Bishop in Jerusalem, the Rt Revd Riah Hanna Abu El-Assal.

Earlier today we learned of the death last Saturday of the Revd Robert Renouf. We received this news with great sadness for during Bob's time on the staff of the Anglican Consultative Council his contributions were many and highly valued. Coming to the Secretariat of the Anglican Communion just after the Lambeth Conference in 1988, Bob was appointed to direct the new Decade of Evangelism initiative for the Anglican Communion.
