It would be tempting for me today to give a review of the last ten years that I have had the privilege of serving as your secretary general. However, I promise I will resist that temptation in this report. Instead I would like to share with you where I see the Anglican Communion today and the great potential we possess as we respond to the different concerns and needs of the 38 Member Churches that make up our global family.

Meeting in the International Study Centre of Canterbury Cathedral, the JSC - comprised of members from Africa, India, Asia, the Middle East, the UK, the USA, New Zealand and the West Indies - has reviewed much of the work currently being undertaken in the Anglican Communion.

The Archbishop of Wales, the Most Revd Barry Morgan, right, celebrated the Eucharist this morning for St David's Day, in the Chapel of Our Lady assisted by the Dean of Canterbury, the Very Revd Robert Willis. The regular daily liturgy marked the opening of the Anglican Communion meeting, which runs through Friday.

The Archbishop Emeritus of Southern Africa, the Most Revd Desmond Tutu visited the Anglican Communion Office on Ash Wednesday to lead an intimate and reflective service of the imposition of the ashes. After the service, the archbishop spoke on a wide-range of issues that face the Anglican Communion, and of his belief in the Church’s future, his faith in human beings, and the central passion of his life - love - in an interview with ACNS.

A Solemn Eucharist and Blessing of the new Anglican Communion office (ACO) will be held Friday, 5 March at 10.30 a.m. with the Archbishop of Canterbury presiding. The ACO moved into St Andrew's House, Westbourne Park, London, just before Christmas 2003.
