The Dean of Coventry has told how he stepped into the long-running battle between Coventry City Football Club, the Ricoh Arena and the council.

The Very Reverend John Witcombe says he set the ball rolling by travelling to London to meet Sisu boss Joy Seppala.

That led to a secret meeting in a restaurant involving the key players - and the dean brought along a professional mediator with an international reputation for resolving conflicts.

A month or so later the deal was done that brought Coventry City back from exile in Northampton.

The Dean wants to herald the Sky Blues' glorious return with a blessing at the ground.

Talks are underway for the Very Reverend John Witcombe to give thanks to God for answering every fan’s prayer and to bless the homecoming.
