Anglican Church defends Hong Kong primate after sermon

The Hong Kong Anglican Church has come to the defence of its top cleric who told pro-democracy Hongkongers to keep quiet, “just as Jesus remained silent in the face of crucifixion”.

Reverend Peter Douglas Koon, provincial secretary general of the Sheng Kung Hui, or the Anglican Church, said the Most Reverend Paul Kwong’s comments had been taken out of context and were an attempt at humour, and were not an attack on the pro-democracy movement.
