The Anglican Communion's global platform supporting and co-ordinating Anglican and Episcopal humanitarian efforts worldwide is looking for a new executive director.

The Anglican Alliance is an initiative of the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Anglican Communion. Since its inception in 2011 it has worked with Anglicans and Episcopalians around the world to identify regional development and advocacy priorities and to co-ordinate relief responses in times of crisis.

Its staff in London, Brazil, Bangladesh, Kenya and the Solomon Islands have also worked hard to develop good working relationships with ecumenical and other development partners.

The Anglican Alliance is advertising for an executive director after the current post-holder, Sally Keeble, decided not seek the renewal of her contract and to return to full-time politics.

During her time – in collaboration with colleagues in Lambeth Palace and the Anglican Communion Office – the Anglican Alliance has gone from a start-up to a well-respected global platform with staff around the world.

Among the charity's many success stories is the launch of a distance-learning course for Anglican Church development practitioners; several residential training courses for specialists from Commonwealth countries across the Anglican Communion; and impactful work with such bodies as the United Nations, the British Government and the G20.

According to the job advertisement the Anglican Alliance is looking for a "dynamic and effective executive director to carry forward its mission to bring together the Anglican community to overcome poverty and injustice".

Found in full at http://www.prospect-us.co.uk/executive/job/c2216-336-1 the advert adds: "Building on existing innovative and effective programmes and partnerships, you will work with the board to develop a learning culture, build capacity in advocacy and relief work, increase effective use of IT and secure the financial base of the Alliance. You will work with a small, very talented staff team and with Anglican churches and agencies globally…You will have opportunity to add further years to the contract through effective fund raising.

"Outstanding communication skills as well as an established commitment to international development and to the beliefs of the Anglican Communion are needed for this post, along with a proven track record of managing a complex global organisation in business, government or the third sector. An ability to present and work at high levels, as well as coming alongside vulnerable people affected by poverty and injustice, is the rare blend needed in this position."

The deadline for applying for the position is 5pm (UK time) on Monday 22 July 2013. Visit the website here or call +44 (0)207691 1931.
