Construction has begun on a new St Bart’s Worship Centre in Rangeville, a revamped facility to be integrated with Symes Thorpe Home for the Aged.

The $2.4 million project is slated for completion in December.

Meanwhile, St Anne’s Anglican Church in Highfields has completed plans for a million-dollar extension to its existing building.

Reverend Stephanie Patching said the upgrades would turn St Anne’s into a “real church with a spire and stained glass windows”.

“We want a church that looks like a church from the road. Currently, people can drive past without ever knowing a church is here,” Rev Patching said.

The plans will be put before the church community on Sunday before entering a long approval process.

Extensions include a new chapel, a main church, a kitchen, removed bathroom facilities and sealed car parks.
