New Executive Director for the Indigenous Theological Training Institute

On 1 March 2011 Martha Allen joined the Indigenous Theological Training Institute (ITTI)  as Executive Director. Martha is a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe (Lakota) in South Dakota and was raised an Episcopalian in Native churches throughout the US (her father was an Episcopal priest).

She has served as Lay Reader, Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, lay eucharistic minister, senior warden and General Convention delegate. Currently Martha is on the Standing Committee for the Diocese of Minnesota and is also the director of First Nations Kitchen, a Native run community meal program. Martha has worked in the public school system for many years and is a trainer in curriculum development for young children. She has lived in Minneapolis for the last five years and has three children and two grandchildren.

The ITTI of The Episcopal Church is a not for profit organization that provides resources, advocacy and support to people of Native American heritage who seek religious leadership education and spiritual formation through ordained orders, lay leadership roles, or their respective community-based ministerial and leadership positions.
