A new parish centre built jointly by the Anglican and Roman Catholic churches in a British town and costing £1.3m has opened.
The Windhill Churches Centre in Bishop's Stortford, in Hertfordshire, England, is being seen as a milestone in ecumenical relationships.
It was built by the Anglican Parish of St Michael and the Roman Catholic Parish of St Joseph and the English Martyrs.
The project has taken 15 years to come to fruition.
The centre comprises two halls, two kitchens, two offices for clergy and six meeting rooms.
The entrance, toilets and lift for the disabled are all shared.
It was opened on Saturday by the Rt Rev Dr Alan Smith, the Bishop of St Albans, and the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Westminster, the Rt Rev George Stack.
