We are pleased to announce that the Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Adelaide elected the Bishop of Gippsland, the Right Reverend Jeffrey Driver, as Archbishop of Adelaide on Saturday 21 May 2005.

Bishop Driver was born in 1951 and was ordained in l977. He was elected to the office of Bishop of Gippsland in 2001. He has been a leader in national theological education at Charles Sturt University and has pastoral experience in regional New South Wales and Victoria.

The Administrator of the Diocese, Archdeacon John Collas, said the Synod is delighted with this outcome of the election and looks forward to working with the Bishop-elect during this new chapter in the life of the Diocese.

Bishop Driver will be installed as Archbishop of Adelaide later in the year.
