On Sunday 1 August 'The Bible Talks' will launch in the city at St Andrew's Cathedral, Sydney Square. Phillip Jensen, the Dean of the Cathedral, will be commencing a series in 1 Peter entitled "Living as Christians in a Pagan World".
The Bible Talks was established as a new congregation in 1995 with the aim of teaching God's Word to young graduates and workers in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. The church's first home was Unisearch House on the Campus of the University of NSW. Since that time, there have been many venues including a University lecture theatre, a Police Citizens Youth Centre and most recently, the Great Hall of Sydney Boys High School. But the most significant changes at The Bible Talks have involved the planting of new ministries. Several new churches have grown out of The Bible Talks over the last decade including: Inner West Bible Fellowship (now St Mathew's, Ashbury), Christians in the Media (now at St Aiden's, Annandale).
The move to St Andrew's is yet another change for The Bible Talks congregation. But with a move to the heart of the city comes an exciting opportunity to join with the wider Cathedral community in reaching Sydney with the great news of Jesus. Even when all else changes, the central aim of proclaiming the Gospel of Christ and equipping workers for God's Kingdom remains constant.
All are welcome on Sunday at 6:30pm on the corner of Bathurst and George St in the City. Train to Town Hall station or drive and park under St Andrew's House (off Kent St - free parking vouchers available after church).
