Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin is to host a series of lunchtime lectures on medieval manuscripts now on show in the cathedral treasury as part of the exhibition 'The Christ Church Psalter in context: manuscripts from the medieval priory.'

The lectures will take place at lunchtime, 1.15pm, on Tuesdays in August in the cathedral crypt.

The first of the lectures will be given by Professor Padraig O Riain of the Department of Early and Medieval Irish, University College Cork on Tuesday, 3 August. This will look at the Christ Church martyrology, now recognised as Dublin's oldest known book, a calendar of saints from Germany.

Three further lectures will follow:

Tuesday, 17 August: The cathedral priory's book of obits by Professor Colm Lennon, National University of Ireland, Maynooth.

Tuesday, 24 August: The Liber niger manuscript by Dr Colman O Clabaigh, OSB, the librarian of Glenstal Abbey.

Tuesday, 31 August: The Christ Church Psalter in Context by Dr Raymond Refausse, Librarian and Archivist, RCB Library.

Admission to the lecture series, supported by the Friends of Christ Church, is free.
