A statement from the Secretary General of the Anglican Communion in Thanksgiving for the life of the Revd Robert Renouf
Earlier today we learned of the death last Saturday of the Revd Robert Renouf. We received this news with great sadness for during Bob's time on the staff of the Anglican Consultative Council his contributions were many and highly valued. Coming to the Secretariat of the Anglican Communion just after the Lambeth Conference in 1988, Bob was appointed to direct the new Decade of Evangelism initiative for the Anglican Communion.
During his time in the Anglican Communion Office, the Decade of Evangelism was launched in many Provinces of the Communion. Bob encouraged them all to participate in a year of prayer that many found helpful. A Prayer Book with evangelism, mission and personal commitment themes was shared throughout the Communion. Bob laid the foundation on which the following years of the Decade programs were built. We in the Secretariat of the Anglican Communion are grateful for Bob's ministry to our global family. Now that his earthly pilgrimage has ended, may he rest in peace and rise in glory. We shall all miss his wisdom and humour. Our love and prayers go to his family and our thanks are offered to God for Bob's life and ministry.
The Revd Canon John L. Peterson
Secretary General
