The first of February 2002 was an historic day for Mid-Africa Ministry (MAM) and the Church Mission Society (CMS) as they finally completed the long-planned integration and became a new society. As they said at a celebration in Kabale in November, "MAM and CMS have become one for the sake of the gospel and to advance an international movement in mission."
Together, MAM and CMS will be sharing knowledge, experience and mission expertise that has developed within our two societies over 80 and 200 years respectively.
Bill Hawes, the General Secretary of MAM, said, "We believe the coming months and years will see the work of the new society develop and grow in exciting ways. This is a new phase of our journey with God; let’s join and advance together in this new venture of faith and movement in mission."
