[Alpha News] The Revd John Irvine, 51, an Alpha course founder, has been appointed the next Dean of Coventry Cathedral. The announcement of his appointment was made last month.

John Irvine has vast experience related to his new role as he is the most senior member of the staff and is responsible for more than 40 staff and the day-to-day running of the whole operation.

A former curate of Holy Trinity Brompton, he played a vitally important role towards the development of the current Alpha week-end course from a 4-week into a 10-week course and adding a week-end away on the Holy Spirit.

Put in charge of the four-week Alpha course, he went about and expanded the course to give it effectiveness, as it was created for Christians who were new in faith.
