The following resolution was passed by the Joint Standing Committee of the Primates of the Anglican Communion and the Anglican Consultative Council meeting in Maidstone, England, 13 October 2000.

The current violence and tragic loss of life in the Holy Land causes us the greatest concern. Lasting peace will not come without justice, and we join our voices to all those throughout the world pleading for peace in the Holy Land in urging political leaders to seek that justice through negotiation, prayer and constructive action.

We ask our brothers and sisters in the Anglican Communion to pray urgently and faithfully for all the peoples of the Holy Land, so that the gospel of peace may be heard in the land of our Lord's birth, death and resurrection.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
