on the 100th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother

On behalf of the bishops and representing clergy and laity of the Church of England assembled in the General Synod, we send Your Majesty our warmest congratulations on the celebration of your 100th Birthday. We are very conscious of the enormous debt which the whole nation owes you for the dignified, Christian example you have provided over the years. It has rightly won an honoured place for you in the hearts of all your people.

We are also conscious of your unswerving commitment to and support of the Church, as it seeks to minister to people up and down the land, and of your work for so many charitable causes. We thank you for all that you have done to help the Church and bring comfort to the needy and the marginalised.

May we offer Your Majesty the assurance of the good wishes of all the Church at this time of rejoicing, and of our prayers for your continued health and happiness.
