Appointment of Archbishop's new Domestic Chaplain at Lambeth Palace

The Archbishop of Canterbury has appointed the Revd Dr David Marshall as his new Domestic Chaplain at Lambeth Palace.

Dr Marshall is currently Priest-in-Charge of the parishes of Buckden and Hail Weston in the Diocese of Ely.

After training at Ridley Hall, Cambridge, he served his curacy at St Edmund's, Roundhay, Leeds from 1990-92. After studying for a doctorate in Islamic Studies at Selly Oak from 1992-95, he was Chaplain of Exeter College, Oxford until 1998.

From 1998-9 Dr Marshall taught Islamic Studies and Old Testament at St Paul's College, Limuru, Kenya.

Dr Marshall's wife, Helen, is also ordained, and they have two sons, Tom (5) and Simon (2).

Dr Marshall said:
"I have enjoyed the time I have spent at Buckden and Hail Weston, and although it has been short, Helen and I will miss our friends and the congregations here. I am delighted to be going to work with the Archbishop and to be part of the team at Lambeth Palace."

An announcement about Canon Colin Fletcher, the present Domestic Chaplain at the Palace will be made in due course.
