[The Three Crowns] St Alban's church in Westbury Park, Bristol is looking for a potter to help demonstrate the craft that was an important part of life in town and villages in the Middle East two thousand years ago. The parish is hosting the Bible Comes to Life Exhibition, which aims to show what life what was like in Biblical times.
"Around 200 volunteers from 13 local churches will make this Millennium experience happen," said organising secretary Philip Revill. "They will be involved in authentic displays and costumed presentations of life in Bible times."
The exhibition, designed and presented by the Church's Ministry among Jewish people (CMJ), has been touring Britain and Ireland for over a quarter of a century. It aims to helps people understand many of the references in the Bible based on what was then everyday life, but which might be difficult to appreciate today.
"We would be delighted to talk to anyone who would be willing to don the camel hair coat and spin the wheel," said Mr Revill about his search for a potter. The exhibition has many informative and authentic displays on agriculture, history and crafts, to give a real feel for life in Jesus' time, including original costumes from the region.
