Episcopal appointments

The Ven D Ralph Spence, the Archdeacon of Trafalgar, in the Diocese of Niagara, has been elected Coadjutor Bishop of the Diocese of Niagara, the Anglican Church of Canada.

The Rt Revd Martin Wharton, Bishop of Kingston, has been appointed Bishop of Newcastle, Church of England. He will succeed the Rt Revd Alec Graham who retires this month.

Appointments & honours

Canon Dr Christina Baxter, Dean of St John's College Nottingham and an ACC member, has been appointed Principal of St John's College, Nottingham. She is succeeding the Revd Dr John Goldingay.

The Most Revd Robin Eames, the Primate of the Church of Ireland, has been awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity in recognition of his "outstanding leadership and work for reconciliation in Ireland".

The Revd Stewart Jones, Priest-in-Charge of St Luke the Evangelist Church, Bristol, has been appointed chaplain to the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Diocese of Canterbury and Diocesan Missioner. He succeeds the Revd Canon Brian Pearson.
