THE RT REVD WALLACE BENN, Vicar of Harold Wood, has been appointed Area Bishop of Lewes in the Diocese of Chichester, Church of England. He will succeed the Rt Revd Ian Cundy who has become Bishop of Peterborough.

THE RT REVD WILLIAM IND, Suffragan Bishop of Grantham in Lincoln Diocese, has been appointed Bishop of Truro, Church of England. He will succeed the Rt Revd Michael Ball who has retired.

The Rt Revd Victoria Matthews, Suffragan Bishop of Toronto Diocese, Anglican Church of Canada, has been elected Bishop of Edmonton, Province of RupertÕs Land. She succeeds the Rt Revd Kenneth L Genge who has become Chaplain at St George's College, Jerusalem. Bishop Matthews is the first woman diocesan bishop in the Anglican Church of Canada.

The Revd Theodore A Daniels, Rector of Calvary Church, Washington DC USA, has been elected Bishop of the Virgin Islands, Province II, ECUSA. He succeeds the Rt Revd Egbert Don Taylor, who has retired.

The Rt Revd Purely Lyngdoh, has been consecrated Bishop of North East India, Church of North India.

The Ven. Canon Moses Elisha Ponniah, Chairman of the Regional Council of Churches, Johore Baru, has been appointed Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of West Malaysia, Church of the Province of South East Asia.

The Rt Revd Anil R Stephen, has been consecrated Bishop of Lucknow, Church of North India.
