It is expected that the Archbishop of Canterbury will visit the city of Sarajevo in Bosnia-Herzegovina between 15 - 18 December 1995.
In this short visit he hopes to meet leaders from both the Muslim and Christian communities, political leaders, those engaged in humanitarian work and military personnel. The Archbishop has shared in the concerns of all the faith-communities at the tragic events in Bosnia over the last few years. He hopes that by this pre-Christmas visit he can demonstrate visibly his solidarity with the people of Sarajevo at this crucial time.
The Archbishop will be accompanied by Mrs Carey; the Revd Canon Dr Richard Marsh, the Archbishop's Secretary for Ecumenical Affairs; and Dr Andrew Purkis, the Archbishop's Secretary for Public Affairs.
Further details will be issued later.
