On its last day in Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza, an ecumenical peace delegation of American Church leaders met with the mayor of Jerusalem, officials at the Israeli Foreign Ministry and the top Palestinian leader in Jerusalem-and issued a final statement at a press conference in mid-December.

Belfast's "Black Santa" dies

The death on Friday 12th January 2001 of the Very Revd Jack Shearer, Dean of St Ann's Cathedral, Belfast, has been announced. The Dean, who was 74, was taken ill on New Year's Eve with a heart attack. He had been Dean of the Anglican Cathedral in Belfast since 1985, and had been due to retire in May.
