Real Easter Egg production moves to UK

A church-backed chocolate company which produces the “real Easter Egg” has moved production of its products from Europe to the UK to cope with increased demand. The Real Easter Egg is said to be the only UK Easter Egg to explain the Christian understanding of Easter on its packaging.

Refugee crisis: churches and governments share responsibility

There is a need for “urgent action to strengthen coordination and cooperation in Europe's response to the refugee and migrant crisis,” a high level conference of governments, UN agencies, churches and civil society organisations heard this week. The conference was organised by the WCC and focused on ways to strengthen coordinated responses to the crisis.

Dangerous "horror" location transformed into refugee welcome centre

A dangerous “horror” location on the Greek island of Lesbos has been turned into a 24-hour reception centre offering shelter, food and medical care to vulnerable refugees by the church-based Lighthouse Refugee Relief (LRR) agency using funds provided through the Anglican mission agency United Society’s Rapid Response Appeal.

C of E takes climate change fight to ExxonMobil

The Church Commissioners for England have tabled a shareholders’ motion calling on the US oil giant ExxonMobil to “disclose the resilience of its business model in the wake of the Paris Agreement on climate change.” If passed, the motion will force the oil company to be more transparent on its efforts to shift to a low-carbon economy.

Archbishops reflect on Primates Meeting

When the senior archbishops of the Anglican Communion gathered in Canterbury Cathedral last week they did so against a backdrop of complex disagreements.
