ACC wants "every province, diocese and parish" to focus on intentional discipleship

The Anglican Consultative Council has called on “every province, diocese and parish” in the Anglican Communion to “adopt a clear focus on intentional discipleship” as part of a “season of intentional discipleship” to run for the next nine-or-so years.

The Supreme Governor of the Church of England, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, celebrates her 90th birthday today; and members of the Anglican Consultative Council took time out of their ACC-16 meeting in Lusaka, Zambia, to send her birthday greetings.

New leaders elected for worldwide Anglican Communion

A lay canon of England’s Liverpool Cathedral has been elected unopposed to serve as vice-chair of the Anglican Consultative Council. She joins the Archbishop of Hong Kong, the Most Revd Dr Paul Kwong, who was elected last week as chair of the body; and five new members of the Standing Committee.

"God and Money" - Archbishop Welby endorses new videos

Jesus sees people as of infinite value whatever their debt or credit position, the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby said in the first of four new ten-minute videos that have been produced as part of his To Your Credit initiative to create a fairer financial system. The Archbishop says that sovereignty of money over every aspect of life must be challenged.

C of E challenges BP chief's 14 million pound pay deal

The Church of England’s investment bodies joined a mass revolt against a proposed pay deal of some £14 million for BP chief executive Bob Dudley today. The rebellion against the company’s remunerations’ committee report saw the pay deal rejected in a non-binding vote of some 60 per cent of shareholders.

The Vatican Cricket Team, the St Peter’s XI, will again lock horns with the Archbishop of Canterbury’s XI later this year in Canterbury in the third of what has become an annual cricket match between the two sides. They will then be joined by a Muslim XI for a triangular T20 match at Edgbaston.

Two candidates for chair of Anglican Consultative Council

Members of the Anglican Consultative Council, meeting in Lusaka, Zambia, will elect a new chair tomorrow and will have the choice of two candidates with significant knowledge of global Anglicanism: Professor Joanildo Burity from Brazil and Archbishop Paul Kwong from Hong Kong.
